Luring with a double attack

You already know the double attack as a very strong weapon. In this lesson the double attack comes in handy again.

You use it to lure a defender away. After you have eliminated the defender in this way, you can deliver checkmate or win a piece.

Take a look at the example.

What do you have you do?

Win material or checkmate the king by luring a defender away with a double attack.

Black's king and queen are in danger of being forked by the white knight (after Nf3-g5+).
You already know: after a double attack with check your opponent has to save his king; the other piece (here: the queen) is a free piece for you.

You may think that this knight fork won't work because of the black rook.
Can't the rook simply take the knight? No, it can't.
The rook must stay where it is to protect the mating square h8. It's overloaded!

The double attack with the knight wins White a queen.
Should Black take the knight, he'll be checkmated (Qc3-h8#), because the defender is lured away from the mating square.
